Why — -wa creates intransitives from transitives: PASSIVE (erstwhile O becomes S, indexed on the verb; secondary stress on the stem-final syllable) and IMPERSONAL (no argument indexed: áfarùwa=mèha wabésina 'our neighbour was killed').
