Why — The conclusive/absolute -gubei inside a negative verb yields 'never': móumugugubeituwa 'we never slept'; mabúnidigubeitina 'I never had a hat'; méihingubeitina ní gürígiya 'I never saw anyone'. On affirmatives the same morpheme = 'had better' (hóugubei bein… 'you'd better eat it') and quantifier 'both' (biyángubei).
